The Sacral Center

This powerful center is central to much of the way we move and create within our lives. The Sacral is the center for our energy and zest for life, it is the place from which we form relationships, procreate, access sexual energy and create, and work.

This center works through sustainability. No matter whether you are Defined or Open in the Sacral Center, there are specific ways to use your energy to sustain your life and creative power. 70% of the population has a Defined Sacral (Generators and Manifesting Generators); 30% of the population have an Open Sacral (Manifestors, Projectors and Reflectors).

The Defined Sacral

Having a Defined Sacral Center is one of the characteristic parts of the bodygraph for Generators and Manifesting Generator. Generators and Manifesting Generators have a consistent stream of energy that radiates from this center. Someone with a Defined Sacral can work hard and for long periods of time, which is both a blessing and a curse. Listening to the impulse of the Sacral Center helps to regulate the energy required for work and also the recognition of the need to rest and replenish.

Our society is conditioned to using our minds to figure out an answer or to make a decision, so listening to your body, specifically your Sacral may seem like a foreign concept. What exactly do I mean by "listening to the Sacral?" This is not easily answered, as the feeling of the Sacral lighting up differs amongst people.

The Sacral “Yes”

Think about something that you absolutely love to do. What makes you love it? It is probably because you're responding to it within yourself. It's not a well thought-out decision made from your head; there's something within your core that responds to say "yes" to that particular activity. The "butterflies" that can occur with being in love can be an example; remember that our energy for sexual desire comes from this center, so the feeling of sexual attraction might be something you can relate to.

The Sacral response has a variety of response levels; since you have a Defined Emotional Solar Plexus, you may feel the response more when you are "high" on your emotional wave; it may be more muted when you are in more reflective mood.

One of the most helpful aspects for the Defined Sacral is the concept of a Sacral Sound. Most Generator types will have an innate sound that emanates through their voice when they like or dislike something, such as a uh-huh or an uhn-uh; being a Manifesting Generator, it also could come through you as a "yeah" or "nah" or another variation. Either way, it's a sound that you probably make consistently but may be unaware of.

An easy way to access this is through a "Sacral Session." This is simply where someone asks you simple binary questions and you respond. You can practice with uh-huh or uhn-uh if you don't know what your sound is, but be willing to experiment and notice what comes out of your mouth first. Sacral Sessions are helpful when you are trying to make a decision about something; someone close to you can ask you generic questions to "warm up" the sacral, then zero in on the real issue. This usually brings an immediate vocal response; if you hesitate to answer, it is a sign that you are using your brain instead of your Sacral.

The Open Sacral

Having an Open Sacral Center is one of the characteristic parts of the bodygraph for a Manifestor, Projector, and Reflector. If you have an Open Sacral, you have a stream of energy that is variable. You have the ability to amplify others' Life Force energy and use it for short periods of time. As a result, you can work as hard as someone with a Defined Sacral--maybe even harder--for a certain amount of time, but at some point you will feel the Life Energy waning, asking you to rest and renew.

The relationship to your value in the world and your ability to work is huge in our culture. But you have the ability to show others what’s possible, especially in work. You can show insights into what needs to happen to help us get to the next level of expansion.

You are learning how to use your energy when it is "on" and, when it is "off" to learn how to allow others to take on the work while you guide them. Is there a way to facilitate this getting done without you having to do the work? The fear will arise: "If I don’t do anything, nothing will happen, and I’ll be sitting here all reved up with no place to go for the rest of my life!" This is a time to learn to stop and let go; stop using the head to create and trust that when you stop “doing things” the next right thing shows up. You can power through anyway, but it will be turned on more when you allow Life Energy to show up in your life.

As someone with an Open Sacral, you need time to release the sacral energy from your body, so sleep and alone time are both very important for your wellbeing.

Challenge: Learning to trust in the flow of Creative abundance; to let go and follow the flow of where the energy is, and to know that if you don’t have the energy, the resources will show up. It takes faith and trust in Source.
